National Gender Policy Adoption

The latest version of a National Gender Policy, which has been in the making since 1988, has been before Cabinet since June 2012. ™This National Policy according to then Minister of Gender, Verna St Rose Greaves “provides the impetus for us to strive for the achievement of full equality between men and women, and their equitable participation in political, economic, social, cultural and family life.’

™It has had the benefit of extensive national consultation and is awaiting approval.

Fight for Gender Law

The Network actively raises awareness of the need to integrate gender issues into policy planning and development while demonstrating ways to restructure the allocation of public funds for the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality.

The Network of NGOs is currently working in the following areas to provide a framework for further development.

  • Draft National Policy on Gender and Development
  • National Commission on the Status of women’s Empowerment and Gender Equity
